Los Alamitos Quarterhorse Track
This is our second day at Los Alamotos where they run the quarter horses’ all year long. It is a very short track in the oval but, of course, the quarters do not run an oval. The stable and barn area is deplorable and needs a complete remake. I doubt if that will ever happen unless they start having some family racing. (Thoroughbreds are viewing racing whereas quarters are betting racing). They hope that when Hollywood in turned into commercial and housing that some of that money will come over here. I doubt that also.
It is a sunny and clear day here in the LA Basin. Just a tourist day.
More later plus a change to our schedule.

At the Hunter-Jumper Show
Well, it is Sunday and we have finished working the track at Pomona and are headed to the Hunter-Jumper show in
Burbank (close to the Disney Studios where I saw Bob Gould or Micky Mouse a moment ago). I am sitting in the van while Ginny is at the Egyptian Deli getting us some Egyptian dinner plates. I don’t think the fried sheep eye balls are going to be my favorite…The Hunter-Jumper show is a small one only about 250/300 entries but this is the elite riders. Now that does not mean the riders are elite but that their familys must be as it cost a ton to ride here…I will have photos to post later from the show. We are starting to wind down our California trip. This week on Thursday we move to Del Mar (just to the North of San Diego) for a big Hunter-Jumper show and to visit a very large training facility..More later.
Another sunny Southern California day
Here we are at the Los Angeles Fairplex (which is in Pomona) working the trainers. This track is used mostly by the big time trainers at Santa Anita for their second string horses. Of course second string is still big money horses. This is also the home of the Barrett Jackson Auction. They have a great barn complex for those horses being sold world wide. We are off to the Hunter-Jumper show in Burbank later this morning. I will try to get some photos of that. You talk about beautiful horses. Wow.
